Fossa – Madagascar’s Most Fearsome

Found only on the east African island nation of Madagascar, this top predator feeds upon another exclusive species – the Lemur. The island’s largest carnivore, the Fossa (pronounced “foo-sa” or “foosh”) is thought to be closely related to Mongoose and Civets despite it’s cat or weasel like appearance. The Fossa’s slender body, long tail and retractable claws enable it to move swiftly among the trees.
