On January 24, 2017 a female baby hippo was born 6 weeks premature at the Cincinnati Zoo. Around the clock care has been ongoing to help the baby, named Fiona. Since she was unable to stand, nursing from her mother was not possible and being born early meant she needed critical care to ensure that she continued to develop and mature.
The staff has been providing updates on Fiona’s progress – which you can find at the Cincinnati Zoo website. This story has even gained national attention and has inspired countless people. Here is a show of support from Art By Breah for baby Fiona and all of the amazing caregivers (#TeamFiona) at the zoo.
